There’s plenty going on at this year’s Carnival once again and this is just a small selection so, for full details, don’t forget to pick up your programme.
Procession around the village
The procession around the village starts around 11.30am and this year will be featuring floats with the theme ‘Anything Goes’. We are also pleased to welcome the Standard Triumph Pipe Band for the first time. We are expecting the usual variety of costumes, fancy dress and fun, so make sure you look out for us along the route between 11.30am and 12.45pm.
Water Orton Dog Show
We are hosting the Dog Show again in conjunction with Birmingham Dogs’ Home but this time it will be a staggered event with Well Behaved Puppy at 2.15pm, Dog Fancy Dress at 2.45pm and Most Likely to be Taken Home by the Judge at 3.45pm.
Anyone can enter their prized pooch, the cost is £2 per dog per class. The winner of each class gets a rosette, there will also be a trophy for Best in Show.
‘Under The Covers’ – Live band
With an exciting repertoire of songs and delivering a powerful stage performance, ‘Under The Covers’ are the ultimate party band and are really looking forward to playing at this year’s Carnival.
Boasting a strong male vocals and punchy rock n roll sound, their repertoire is a blend of pop, funk, rock and rock ‘n’ roll covering everything from the 1960’s to present day including Queen, The Beatles, Bowie, The Kinks, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Blur, Oasis, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Neil Diamond, The Jam, Tom Petty, U2, The Human League, Stereophonics, The Killers, Kings of Leon and many more.
Scarecrow Competition
Don’t forget to bring your Scarecrow along to the Carnival field at 3pm for judging. You can read all about our Scarecrow Competition here!
Mighty Smith Strongman
Adrian Smith, 5th in the World’s Strongest Man and three times winner of UK’s Strongest Man Competition, presents a show geared for family fun with visual humour and audience participation. Watch him holding a chair with a seated lady on it in his teeth, along with more serious feats of strength, including a vehicle pull. He will also be presenting a children’s tug of war with prizes.
