The Scarecrows are Coming!
(Or they will be with your help…!!)
This year there will be a new event at Water Orton Carnival – A Scarecrow Competition!! We are hoping that villagers – including local groups – will make a scarecrow and put him or her in the garden /outside their homes in the week before the Carnival (from 8th June onwards ) so as many people as possible can admire their creation!
Then… on the day… bring your Scarecrow to the field if you want to take part in the competition, which will be judged by our Guest of Honour.
All entrants need to be in place (location on the field to be confirmed) by 3pm. There will be a prizes awarded! The theme is ‘Anything Goes’ – so all we ask is that you get involved, have fun and fill Water Orton – and then the Carnival Field – with cheery characters for all to enjoy.
Thanks to al of the children who entered our competition to design a poster to help advertise the competition around the village. We were inundated with entries and it was a tough choice
Scarecrow Poster Competition
And we have not just one winner but two…..!
Well done to Sophie Mahon and Megan Reynolds for these fantastic designs – both eye-catching and informative.
Thank you to everyone who entered – it was an incredibly difficult task to pick a winner (which is why we ended up with two) – and any one of them could have won, as they are all just wonderful).
The winning posters will be displayed around the village to advertise the Carnival Scarecrow Competition!
